Merrell’s Versatile Footwear for Little Feet

Merrell has exciting news – they have introduced an amazing collection called Bare Steps for toddlers, plus a new toddler and kid snow boot called the Snow Quest Lites. Hiking Toddler has tested out both, and we have plenty of thoughts to share to help you learn more about these toddler footwear options!

Merrell’s Bare Steps Collection

Merrell’s new toddler footwear is called the Merrell Bare Steps Collection. In most instances, podiatrists recommend that toddlers wear soft soled shoes that are flexible and have wide toe boxes. This is so their growing feet have enough mobility to develop properly. Merrell incorporated these features into the Bare Steps Toddler Shoe Collection. There are 5 styles in a range of color options.

Hiking Toddler has tested the Little Kid’s Bare Steps Sneaker, and the photos below highlight the main features: the comfy wide toebox, the easy on/off closure, soft materials, minimalist design, and flexible yet high traction sole.

He loves running around outdoors in them, and I love that they are very easy to get on and off. The rounded design matches the shape of his chubby foot, which is ideal for foot development. I am not sure how long they’ll last, given the minimalist design. So far so good, and I predict that by the time he wears them out he’ll be in the next size shoe!

Merrell Snow Quest Lite Boots

For snow days, rainy days, and even mud play, Hiking Toddler is loving Merrell’s new Snow Quest Lite Boots. As featured on the Hiking Lady Holiday Gift Guide this year, the Merrell Snow Quest Lite Boots are ideal for toddlers and little kids who enjoy being outside in the winter months.

Snow Quest Lite Snow Boots: Very waterproof.
Winter boots that will keep feet dry

Hiking Toddler loves these boots because they look like “fireman boots”. Plus, they keep his feet warm and dry 🙂 What I particularly like about these boots is the velcro strap across the top, which provides a secure fit that a parent can easily adjust (only in the toddler version). The Kid size version has a secure hook and loop closure system, which we haven’t tried. The liner is removable, so if it were to get wet (we haven’t had that happen yet), it could be dried out more quickly. It is a well designed, reasonably priced toddler boot that will be handed down for use by Hiking Baby when Hiking Toddler is through with them!
