Have you heard of OMM? If you’re in the United Kingdom you probably know the brand quite well, and are familiar with the Original Mountain Marathon adventure races.
For the rest of you (like me!) you’re in for a nice surprise. These guys manufacture some extremely high quality, highly technical products designed for adventure racers, but would be great options for hikers and backpackers. Unfortunately they are not sold in the United States (yet!) but hopefully one day they’ll have their product available over here too.
I’ve been wearing an OMM Kamleika Smock for the last several times I’ve been out on a trail run or hike, including this weekend in Southern California! I just got back from testing the smock in a downpour (a rare but fun weather event in Southern California), and this outerlayer is how I now am defining the word “waterproof!” Now I need a pair of pants that will work just as effectively… check out my full review of the OMM Kamleika Smock here.
Wow that smock sure is waterproof. I could use something like that here in Seattle. I look forward to seeing it when it comes to the U.S.
