Black hiking pants? My daughter will be in Costa Rica to do research on turtles. She will be hiking the beaches at night during their wet season. She can only wear black, long pants and black long sleeve shirts. She will be working with an experienced crew and they recommend crocs for the feet.
We’ll be getting wool socks also. But we are having a hard time with pants! She wears a woman’s small. Any recommendations? ~Karen

You are right…most hiking pants don’t come in black. They’re generally taupe, khaki, gray, etc.

I just got a pair of Royal Robbins’ black Discovery hiking pants. They come in regular and short inseams (not sure if your daughter wears a petite small or regular small), but they should work for her.

If she wants something super comfortable (but without lots of pockets), then I’d say the Columbia Just Right Pants. These also come in short and regular lengths.

Both of the above pants are wicking, so they should work well in the rainy season.
