Using my JetBoil in the Wilderness!

JetBoil Personal Cooking SystemHow do you cook in the backcountry? I have been using my JetBoil Personal Cooking System for the last couple of years because of its convenience, ease of use, and relatively compact size. There are other stoves that are smaller and lighter, but this one offers the best overall solution for what I want in a backcountry stove. Most importantly, I find it to be super reliable.

I just finished publishing a series of 3 quick videos, where I demonstrate how I use my JetBoil Personal Cooking System in the wilderness! Enjoy, and let me know if you have questions, comments, or just want to say hi!

JetBoil will never be out of my camping list! It’s very reliable and durable. I just can’t wait another newer version of JetBoil would come out in the market coz I’ll surely be buying one!

Great comment! I totally agree with you that the JetBoil PCS is fantastic for its convenience and reliability. It isn’t for the ultralite hikers out there, but I’ll carry an extra few ounces knowing that it will work every time! I’ve taken mine snow camping and used it in sub 0 degree Fahrenheit temperatures and it worked great!

I bought my JetBoil in the first year of production (2001). It still lights every time and boils like no other. It is my favorite gear to stash in a day pack for a peak climb. Many a summit has been celebrated with hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and hot soup! It isn’t the lightest stove on the market, but the tiny canister can supply boils for 2 hikers on a 5 day backpack if you aren’t going ultra-light. The new lighter JetBoil model this year might just be worth the investment.
