The CamelBak BPA Free Better Bottle with Bite Valve is one of my favorite water bottles. I originally found out about this water bottle when I was researching BPA-free plastic bottles that I could use while hiking.
What is BPA and why I avoid it (and you should too!)?
- BPA is a chemical called Bisphenol-A, which is used in the manufacture of certain plastics.
- If BPA from plastic leaches from a plastic bottle into the liquid, it can lead to significant health problems.
- As people have become more aware of the dangers of BPA, manufacturers have responded with “BPA Free” bottles and containers, made from safer plastics.
Features I like about this bottle:
One cool feature of the CamelBak BPA Free Better Bottle is the easy to use bite value. When I’m on the trail or even in the car and want a drink, I can simply just suck on the bite value and not have to hold the bottle high above my head. It’s like a high-tech built-in straw. There’s no need to tip the bottle at all.
From a handling standpoint, the water bottle is designed to easily clip onto a pack using a carabiner, or be held in the crook of your finger.
In addition to the great functionality, CamelBak offers this water bottle in three sizes (0.5-liter, 0.75-liter, and 1.0-liter) and in 34 colors and designs! I already own 2 of them… and I have given others as gifts to friends and family to help encourage them to reduce their environmental footprint. 🙂
When I’m on the trail using my SteriPEN UV-treatment in the wilderness, I stick with a widemouth Nalgene BPA free water bottle so I can easily attach the SteriPEN Pre-Filter and not have to worry about getting the bite valve or the suction tube of the CamelBak water bottle dirty. For the car and daily use, I definitely prefer the convenience of the built-in straw of this CamelBak water bottle.
Happy trails and cheers to BPA free water bottles! No more need to worry about plastics leaching into our water!
