A Walk in the Woods

A Walk in the Woods

If you want a humorous, well-written tale of a man’s journey with his friend hiking the Appalachian Trail, A Walk in the Woods is for you. Bill Bryson, a trail novice at the outset of the book, tells his first-person story of his decision to hike the trail, and interweaves an eye opening look at how the American wilderness is at risk.

For anyone who has ever bought backpacking gear, Bill’s recount of his shopping trip at a New Hampshire outdoors store will be sure to make you laugh and recollect your own sticker shock surprise!

After reading this one you may be inspired to plan your own trip hiking the Appalachian Trail! Being a “thru hiker” is not quite my goal, but hiking sections of the 2,175 miles would be loads of fun! Animal and plants lovers will definitely enjoy Bryson’s descriptions of the Great Smoky Mountains. No wonder that is the most visited National Park in the U.S.!

It is funny, interesting, and enjoyable to read! A Walk in the Woods is one of my favorite hiking books!
