On a cold Fall day, here is some inspiration from the Canadian poet, Robert Service. His poems take us to the frozen land of the Canadian north, where early settlers had to fend for themselves but also came to have a deep understanding and connection with the outdoor world around them.
Excerpt from The Spell of the Yukon by Robert W. Service.
There’s a land where the mountains are nameless,
And the rivers all run God knows where;
There are lives that are erring and aimless,
And deaths that jus hang by a hair;
There are hardships that nobody reckons;
There are valleys unpeopled and still;
There’s a land – oh it beckons and beckons,
And I want to go back – and I will.
