If a Himalayan Trek or journey to Patagonia is in your near future, check out these tips:
- Get a large duffel to protect your backpack. You don’t want to arrive with a broken hip belt or torn backpack.
- Consider the quality of the luggage you buy to transport your gear. Checking your gear onto an airplane requires more durable materials than simply tossing your gear in your car for a local hiking or camping trip.
- Get a lock! Some bags have built in locks, others need to be bought separately. A small lock is a nice deterrent to would be thieves, but that doesn’t mean you should leave your gear unattended.
