About the World Wildlife Federation

The WWF helps support animals globally. In Indonesia, for example, the WWF helped the people in the Sumatra region resolve the conflicts between elephants and villagers. Because land was being cleared so rapidly, elephants started wandering to farms and villages in search of food. The WWF stepped in with a short term solution and created squads to help keep elephants in the forests and away from farms and villages that they were destroying. It is good to know that the WWF was able to help out and save the lives of many elephants while helping farmers and villagers maintain their way of life.

I love animals, I love the outdoors! And $100 toward those shoes would be awesome! I would love to have some new shoes to go adventuring in! Life’s an adventure especially outdoors 🙂

  3. Allison says:

Heck yes! What girl doesn’t love some new shoes. Especially ones she can get muddy in! And they help animals to boot (pun not intended)!

Hi Hiking Lady! A couple years ago, a group of my friends went on a canoe trip across Canada. Before they went, they raised money to donate to WWF, and their trip was used as an awareness tool. Canada is gorgeous country and the terrain is geographically different in each province! That awareness trip was such a great tool in educating people about WWF and about some parts of the world that many people dont’ get to see – the wild Northwoods and Hudson Bay are often untouched by man. I hope the WWF can continue to help great people do fun trips to bring awareness to our world!

The boots would be excellent… I am just getting into backpacking and need a new pair that won’t hurt my feet or knees!!

Both those pairs of shoes look fabulous! Although after a sprain a few years ago the Doc said no hiking for me in shoes that don’t protect my ankles, so I’d probably go for the ballerinas. ;o)

The WWF helped develop my love of animals as a child which is part of what got me into studying Biology! My parents ordered their “animal cards” for us when we were kids. We had this big plastic green box to put them in. Each card had a photo of the animal (or drawing) on the front, and on the back lots of information about its classification (I knew more about taxonomy than anyone else in my 1st year Zoology class!), habitat, feeding habits, size etc. Was fascinating for me! :o)

Since I am finished climbing the corporate ladder, it is time to take a hike in a pair of Patagonia hiking shoes, or at least a $100 to go towards their purcahse!

Keep up the good and informative work HL!

and please enter me in the contest.

Would love some casual Patagonias to wear to work…all the running and hiking feels great, but work shoes make my feet hurt! Thanks!

I’m an enthusiastic newbie to the great outdoors, and I’m addicted. I can’t afford to spend a lot of money on equipment but I know that it’s very important to have confidence in your equipment so you don’t get hurt…or worse. So slowly, as I can afford it, I’m gathering my supplies so I can trek, hike, camp, climb and more. So, this contest would help a great deal!

This will be my first spring in many years that im not sick! Our first camping trip is in May, these boots will make everything easier!

  12. Elle says:

New to hiking but have heard great things about Patagonia and I really support their efforts to upcycle gear on E-bay. Can’t wait to hit the trails!

  13. Jessica Owen says:

New hiking shoes would be amazing for this spring and summer. Plus helping a charity is even better.

  14. Penny says:

I made a big mistake last year, buying some inexpensive hiking shoes. Went in a 11 mile hike on the Greenbrier River trail in WVA. The shoes did not have very good soles, and I got terrible blisters on my feet. I continue the hike til we reach the end. I never wore those shoes again. I could use $100, to prove putting more money in good quality Patagonia shoes would be worth it & save your feet.

  15. Elle says:

I am a beginning hiker and the articles here are a lifesaver. Patagonia is a company that I recently read does used gear sales through E-Bay. I love that concept. Pay it forward. Always.

  16. Tim Asay says:

WWF has been been a great organization and I have grown up trying to do what I cold as kid to help. My first pair of glasses were a WWF associated pair. Now as an adult what a great way to continue to help.

  17. Dana Sahm says:

I love spending my free time outdoors, it could only get better wearing me a new pair of Patagonia shoes!!

  18. Rachel says:

I’d love to use a new pair of Patagonia hikers at my camp where we help kids reconnect with nature. Love the WWF and everything it stands for.

  19. Living in a suburban area I am always amazed to see wild animals: foxes playing in a field, hawk building a nest out of the top of ball fields light tower, deer chewing grass by the highway. The reason I am delighted is you don’t expect it since we have developed so much of their habitat, that is why I like and support the WWF. They help animals the world over.

  20. Barbara Soblo says:

I love to go into the wild & leave behind only footprints while taking home only memories. Patagonia shoes will get me there & back in style!

  21. Penny S says:

I am hiking my first overnighter in the Adirondack’s in May. I could use a new pair of Patagonia shoes to help me along the way. I don’t hike often so anything that is great like these would be a bonus!!!

  22. Amber Whiting says:

Awesome cause! Not to mention I could use all the help I can get affording hiking supplies, and boots happen to be a much needed item.

  23. Jules Vergar says:

A pair of those maha breathe’s would go perfect with my work wardbrobe, and for happy hour 🙂

  24. Christopher Sorel says:

Love my Patagonia Drifter AC and starting to wear out after a year of abuse. So this would be great win

  25. Katie says:

Oops, silly computer. … It is very important to me that the WWF is getting the funding they need to help animals globally. These animals all deserve this care. 🙂 Patagonia also cares about our planet which is why I buy their products. I would love a chance to win a pair of hiking boots!
