A Hiking Lady reader is going on the absolute trip of a lifetime – she and her husband are going to travel to all 58 U.S. National Parks by 2016! Pretty amazing!

Since there are 8 U.S. National Parks in Alaska, it will take careful coordination and planning to reach them all. The 2 northernmost parks, Kobuk Valley and Gates of the Arctic offer the additional challenge and adventure of needing to fly in.

Have you been to Kobuk Valley or Gates of the Arctic? Here’s my advice about traveling to those 2 parks!

Hiking the Appalachian Trail?

A Walk in the Woods

Have you ever thought about hiking the Appalachian Trail? I sure have!

A close hiking friend of mine insisted that I borrow her copy, and I swear I couldn’t put this book down. Obviously I am a fan of most books about hiking, but this one is truly special – Bill Bryson weaves into his humorous story loads of history and science, all while sharing the details of his adventure.

This 12-hour, 6 part highly anticipated documentary took 10 years to make, and based on the previews I’ve seen, it will have amazing footage from many of our wonderful U.S. National Parks.
