I had never heard of Icebreaker until couple of months ago when a friend told me about an amazing pair of Icebreaker socks he wore for a week on the trail…and that didn’t stink! I didn’t believe it until I went ahead and bought this pricey (but worth it!) Atlas baselayer.

If you are new to the Icebreaker brand, then you have a great surprise coming when you try their products! They are all made of high quality natural merino wool fibers, which of course is very “green”, and provides excellent wicking properties to keep you dry.

The Icebreaker Atlas 150 is a high performance top that will keep you warm on crisp fall days, but also keep you cool when you workout.

I use mine as a baselayer for winter snowshoe trips and ski trips, when I know I’m going to be perspiring and want to stay dry. And just like SmartWool, the Icebreaker merino wool is machine washable.

I am impressed with how soft the shirt is, making it a great baselayer. It can can be easily layered with hiking shirts and fleeces.

Icebreaker is one of the best brands out there, but it is hard to find and tends to be pricey. But if you read Hiking Lady’s deals and coupons you may be able to find it on sale!) Another baselayer I like from Icebreaker is the Tech T Lite Petal – check out the Hiking Lady review of that one too!
