Win Mountain House Pro-Paks for Your Next Adventure!

Mountain House Pro-Paks
Hiking Lady’s favorite Mountain House Pro-Pak meal – Lasagna with Meat Sauce!
Are you going on an adventure this summer? I sure hope that all of the articles on the Hiking Lady website have inspired you to plan your trip! This month you have the chance to win Mountain House Pro-Paks for your next adventure!

One of my favorite summertime places to go is the Sierra Nevada mountains here in California. What comes along with me on EVERY backpacking trip? Mountain House Pro-Pak meals! My two personal favorites are Lasagna with Meat Sauce and Chicken & Rice. Most importantly, they are tasty, and are also easy to make, nutritious, and filling. All you have to do is add hot water and stir, and your dinner is ready! The Pro-Paks are unique in that they are air-compressed, and for anyone who has ever gone camping or backpacking at high altitude, you’ve seen bags of chips, meals, etc. all puff up and take up loads of precious space in your backpack. The Pro-Paks stay small and compact.

  1. I love their biscuits and gravy! I seriously could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their meals came in so useful when we went dry camping (can’t have a campfire either) for a week at Guadalupe Mountains National Park last July!

Trying to get back into hiking and backpacking with my teenage daughter. My gear list is almost complete and these are convenient, light weight and sound delicious after a long day on the trail!

  3. Susan Kerlin says:

Mountain House is my GO TO food for backpacking, nothing else compares in taste. I would love to win a few. Please pick me.

  4. Victoria says:

Who wouldn’t love some Mountain House? Heading out on lots of backpacking trips soon – training for a big one! – and would love the fuel 🙂

  5. Cindy Stevenson says:

These Pro-Pacs sounds like a great option. Although I mostly day hike, I always like to have some food along in case of an emergency situation.

  6. KristenF says:

As someone who loves to cook, I aspired to craft my own backcountry hiking meals. It’s harder than I would imagine and the vast majority just didn’t turn out that well. Mountain House meals are light weight, easy to prepare, and they taste pretty darn good. I don’t bother with fancy recipes anymore. I just stick with Mountain House.

  7. Andrea Goulet says:

I’m always looking for new meals to enjoy while I’m living outside. These look great!

  8. Susie Waring says:

Too often I spend my Camping time playing Caterer. Can’t believe I didn’t think of Mountain House. It’s been a long time since I had one of those!

  9. Lindsay says:

We recently started our journey to become Adirondack 46ers, taking my very first backpacking trip in a few weeks. Can’t wait to try out some of these tasty meals on the journey with my man and two fur babies! (alaskan klee kai’s)

  10. Sue Behrens says:

Looking forward to some long treks with my furry friend and some good meals around the campfire. Mountain house would be superb!

  11. Cheryl R. says:

I will try out Mountain House on my next hiking trip into the Sawtooth Wilderness area.

  12. Gwendolyn says:

That certainly sounds very tasty and would be relished after hiking! I’d like to find out more about the products also for a friend.

  13. Barbara Krause says:

Because I’m retiring 6/23/17 and plan to spend A LOT of time on the trails these would be great!

  14. Tina says:

I wasn’t sure I was going to like these. I bought a few when I was out on the Appalachian trail this year and I really liked them. The regular Mountain House Mac and Cheese was really good.

  15. Love my emails from hiking lady.com! I’m turning 50 next month and am finally getting back to backpacking after over a decade’s break! Hoping to joggle a 50k or 50mile trail run this year too!

  16. Barbara McCollum says:

Spaghetti and Beef Stroganoff are my two favorite Mountain House dehydrated meals.

  17. Aimi says:

Working on prepping dehydrated meals right now for NP trips in July and it is time consuming. Little help from MH would be awesome.

  18. Rae W says:

I’ve seen Mountain House products in REI, but we mostly car-camp and carry “real” food. Moving into hiking now and always looking for convenient trail food!

  19. ROSANNE MORRIS says:

This is a great giveaway!! I’m planning some overnight backpacks this summer and these would be perfect!!

  20. Molly says:

The spaghetti and meatballs is my favorite Mountain House meal! I find the cheese from the lasagna hard to clean off of my spoon.

  21. Alison S says:

I normally make my own meals, but would love to try some pre-made. They seem a bit high in sodium, so they probably taste better than mine 😀

  22. Lori says:

I’ll be spending some time on the Colorado Trail this summer. Mountain House meals are the best for backpacking trips. Thanks for all your tips and gear reviews!

  23. Kathy B says:

I’ve used Mountain House products and they’re tasty. They’ve got a good variety of meals.

  24. Jill Heller says:

I have not tried these before but I bet they are pretty good from what the other commenters are stating here. 🙂

  25. Jo Selvaggio says:

Hi, my husband and I are just getting back into backpacking after 2 years (2 foot surgeries). This would help restock our supplies.

  26. Shari says:

I am just getting into hiking and would love a chance to try some of the supplies that you recommend.

  27. Jessica Squires says:

I’ve always enjoyed Mountain House over other brands. They have a different taste, more real for a hiking food than other freeze dried ones. My favorite is the spaghetti one. Thank you for the chance to win and try more on the trail!

  28. Bryan says:

We will be doing a week-long backpack trip in Grand Canyon in October, and these super-light and super-compact Mountain House meals would be a great addition to our gear/meal planning. Whether I win here or not, there will be some MH freeze-dried meals in my pack.

  29. Kylie says:

I would love to give these a try. I’ve got a gal coming with me for her first 14’er, and this would be the cherry on top!

  30. Jennai says:

These would come in so handy for our summer camping trips — we usually go on long hikes then also, so they would be helpful there also!

  31. Brittney Morgan says:

Just this weekend we had to resort to ramen and oatmeal as they were easy “just add water” meals! I would love to give something like this a try!!

  32. Susan D says:

I will have to look at these for our Colorado trip in August. I have a hard time finding freeze dried meals I like… maybe Mountain House is what I’ve been missing.

  33. Carol Ezovski says:

I have some of their products in our “earthquake preparedness” kit. The lasagna sounds good!

  34. Joan says:

I’m a big fan of Mountain House meals. The beef stroganoff is my favorite. The slightly spicy chili mac is a winner, too.

  35. Dawn Jones says:

I had tried a sample once of Mountain House and wasn’t impressed, but that has been a few years back…so maybe this is better. Have a great day!

  36. Kate Turner says:

Should lighten the weight on our planned 5 nights wilderness trip to the NW Highlands of Scotland

  37. Tyson Hilton says:

I have heard the Mac and Cheese is another classic staple. My family and I are going to be packing some for an upcoming adventure

  38. Hiking Lady says:

Hi Erlinda, I also really liked the Vegetarian Lasagna from Mountain House, but they’ve discontinued it. The Beef Stroganoff with Noodles is good too!

  39. reanna says:

My husband and I are building up to backpacking. I just recently found your blog and really enjoy it.

  40. Hiking Lady says:

    Hi Lindsay,
I have tasted others, and I like the taste of the Mountain House the best. Personal preference 🙂

  41. Lindsay says:

Why do you specifically like Mountain House? I thought they were pretty meh in the 1990s and so I’ve been using others since. I got a sample of theirs recently and will give it a try on my next trip. I guess they must have improved – it’s been a long time.
